How
do I save my files?
Article by: "P WhatPorn"
Odd question you might think, I know how to save files. Of course
you do - normally. The question we get asked many times it goes like
this- "how
can I keep streamed video files or other pictures that don't give
me a save picture/target option " . Surfers -
not unreasonably - object to the experience of streamed video because
it comes in chunks and once seen cant be seen again without re connecting.
I've paid for it why cant I keep it? So here is a tip that will
give you a better surfing experience.
Technical bit (Windows only I'm afraid)- everything you see in
your internet browser is downloaded in pieces from one or more
web servers. It is stored on your computer and assembled by your
browser into what you see on the screen. Internet Explorer has
a large cache of data stored in a temporary internet files folder.
This may be kept for a session or longer depending on the options
you set up for IE. This folder has all the pictures and video files
in it for most common file types.
If you stream a video using windows
media player or a similar software package the streamed file
is usually saved until you close the browser session unless you
run out of temporary disk space or delete it yourself. This file
can be copied to your own folder and kept. Lets take an example - Go to Her
First Lesbian Sex .
Click on one of the sample videos and watch the streamed video.
Nice eh! Want to see it again? When it stops click on Tools on
your IE toolbar and then select Internet Options.
IE 5 and 6 -
Click on settings
under Temporary Internet Files.
Towards the bottom of the popup you will see a View Files Button.
Click it and you see a list of all the files in your temporary
internet files folder. Click on the size column heading to sort
the list by size and you should find a large file that ends in
.wmv. This is your streamed movie sitting on your hard disk. Right
click it, select copy and then paste it into My Documents or a
folder of your choice in a different windows explorer window. Congratulations
you have saved the streamed video file which can be replayed as
many times as you like.
IE 7 -
Find Browsing History and click on settings
Towards the bottom of the popup you will see a View Trusted Files Button.
Couple of points - it is likely the temporary files folder is
emptied when IE is closed so make sure you don't close the session
you viewed the video in until you have copied any files. Secondly
IE will delete and reuse file space if the temporary folder is
small or you are downloading masses of data so its best to copy
it as soon as you have downloaded.
Happy surfing
